Hatchet 3 (2013) is the third film of horror of the Hatchet Series. It chronicles Victor Crowley's continuing adventures as well as his escapade through Louisiana's Honey Island Swamp. Kane Hodder plays Victor Crowley, Brian Quinn portrays Deputy Winslow, Rileah vanderbilt portrays Misty.
The practical effects in the film are the film's greatest strengths. Hatchet 3 is a modern horror film that heavily relies on CG effects. Hatchet 3 focuses mainly on practical makeup effects as well as sets. This results in some truly horrifying scenes.
The cast gives a strong performance, with Kane Hodder standing out as the most intimidating villain. The dialogue is funny and smart enough to make it feel like a slasher movie from the 80s. Additionally, there are several hilarious moments throughout that offer some humor in the midst of the terrifying action.
Because the budget was $1 million, most places were reused from earlier movies. The boat house used twice in the film was one example. A lot of the film appears to be a re-use from other movies in the franchise. For those who have seen Hatchet or Hatchet 2, this could make the film appear familiar.
